Accessibility
How Lumen Flow supports keyboard operation and VoiceOver, including a dedicated accessibility tree for the Flow canvas, with rotors and custom actions for navigating a Flow.
A visual canvas is the part of an API tool most likely to be unusable without a mouse or without sight. That is precisely why it was designed with its own accessibility layer rather than left to whatever the drawing code happened to expose.
Lumen Flow is a native macOS environment for designing, running, debugging, and versioning API workflows — integrated with the Mac, including its assistive technologies.
Keyboard operation
The app is built to be driven from the keyboard: moving through Spaces and Flows, opening the editor for a step, running a Flow, and reading the result in the Inspector. Windows have their own shortcuts — Resources, the Inspector, and Preferences each open directly, without going through a menu chain.
A canvas VoiceOver can read
The Flow canvas is a drawn surface, so it publishes a dedicated accessibility tree instead of relying on generic view introspection. Each node in the Flow is exposed as a real accessibility element with:
- a label describing what the step is and what it does;
- custom actions, so a node can be opened, run, or edited from VoiceOver’s action menu rather than by clicking a specific point on screen;
- rotors for moving between nodes, so you can jump through a Flow’s steps instead of traversing the canvas geometrically.
This means the structure of a Flow — the order of the steps, where a branch splits — is available as structure, not as pixels.
What we claim, and what we do not
We are describing implementation, not certification. Lumen Flow does not claim WCAG conformance, and no accessibility audit or certification has been published for it. Accessibility work is ongoing, and support varies between parts of the app.
If something is unreachable by keyboard or unclear under VoiceOver, that is a bug we want to hear about: write to support@raylyt.com and describe what you were trying to do.
